Detroit authorities have charged Timothy Morgan with the brutal murder of his wife, Kathryn Morgan, on May 4, 2025. The Detroit Police Department has alleged that Morgan attacked his wife with a plastic sword and pliers. He later told police that he “killed the demon pretending to be my wife and I’m turning myself in.”

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 18400 block of Conley Street at approximately 4:31 a.m. after receiving a call about a reported stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Kathryn unresponsive in the living room, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her back and head. Despite the rapid response of emergency medical personnel, Kathryn was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the “worst” crime scenes the assistant DA has ever seen

Investigators revealed that Timothy Morgan allegedly used a plastic sword to stab his wife multiple times before striking her in the head with a pair of pliers, causing fatal injuries. The gruesome nature of the attack has left the local community in shock, as more details continue to emerge about the circumstances leading up to the tragic event. According to Fox 2 Detroit, a Detroit assistant DA, the crime scene was like a horror movie and among the worst she’d ever seen.

Shortly after the attack, Morgan reportedly turned himself in at the 11th Precinct of the Detroit Police Department. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, a charge that carries the possibility of life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.

“So many mentally ill individuals that have not been diagnosed”

The case has sparked widespread discussion in the local community, with many residents expressing their disbelief and sorrow over the tragic loss of Kathryn Morgan. Some have described the incident as a “nightmare,” highlighting the need for more mental health awareness and support for individuals who may be struggling with severe psychological issues.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the couple’s relationship or the possible motives behind the attack. However, sources close to the investigation suggest that mental health issues may have played a significant role, given the suspect’s alleged statement about his wife being a “demon.”

One social media comment wrote, “So many mentally ill individuals that have not been diagnosed, for whatever reason. It is a societal issue and help is needed, while crazy people are destroying programs and people, under the pretense of making America great…this is unreal…prayers to the family!”
